Teen Nutrition Habits: "Teen Nutrition Habits
The alarming trends in teen nutrition habits today clearly demonstrate that proper nutrition is a challenge for this young segment of our society. Bombarded by fast food advertisements, lured by slick packaging on highly processed foods, and uneducated on the importance of nutrition, teen nutrition habits are far from the models of behavior that represent healthy lifestyle choices.
Teen nutrition habits clearly illustrate that many teenagers are quite clue less when it comes to the types of foods they should be consuming on a regular basis. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins are absent from today's teen lexicon in regards to nutrition and health. In fact, problems of juvenile diabetes, high cholesterol, juvenile arteriosclerosis, obesity, and other health problems are on the rise within teenage populations today.
While schools have initiated programs to educated young children about nutrition, it seems that trends in teen nutrition habits have largely been impervious to change (for the better). "
